I started at a California community college with my sights set on the top business programs in the state. Getting there meant working out which courses to take and when, which prerequisites each school actually required, how to write the UC Personal Insight Questions, the Haas essays and USC's "Why Marshall?" response.
I was admitted to UCLA Business Economics, USC Marshall, UC Irvine Merage and UC Berkeley Haas, and I enrolled at Haas.
What stuck with me was how navigable the system is once you know how it works. TAG, IGETC, UCLA's TAP program and ASSIST.org articulation all exist to help community college students transfer. But the rules are spread across dozens of websites, the deadlines are unforgiving, and most students are figuring it out alone or with a counselor who has hundreds of other students.
I started Pacific Admissions Group so other transfer students don't have to piece it together on their own. All sessions are on video, so we can work with students at any California community college.
The way I see it, the California transfer system rewards students who are informed and prepared. Our job is to make sure you're both.
