Cal Poly Pomona transfer requirements

Academic Requirements

Cal Poly Pomona transfer eligibility:

  • 60 transferable semester units
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA (competitive admits 2.8–3.4, est.); impacted majors may need more
  • Golden Four courses completed with a C- or better (engineering majors are exempt from critical thinking)
  • 30 semester units of GE (Cal-GETC, or CSU GE-Breadth/IGETC)
  • Good academic standing

Major Preparation

As a polytechnic, CPP emphasizes hands-on preparation:

  • Engineering, CS, and architecture are most competitive
  • Impacted majors have required supplemental courses (C or better) plus recommended ones that earn extra points
  • Check ASSIST.org for your CC-to-CPP articulation
  • Learn-by-doing philosophy similar to Cal Poly SLO

Cal State Apply

Standard CSU application:

  • October 1 – November 30 application window
  • No personal essays for most programs
  • Architecture (B.Arch): send a portfolio to the department for 2nd- or 3rd-year placement; without one you start in 1st year
  • Self-reported coursework; update grades in the Academic Record Update, Jan. 1–31, 2027

ADT & Polytechnic Focus

ADT and technical preparation matter at CPP:

  • A similar ADT adds a 0.1 GPA bump (impacted majors) or 0.2 (non-impacted) and waives supplemental courses, but doesn't guarantee CPP admission
  • CPP values hands-on experience and technical readiness
  • Engineering and architecture are signature programs
  • Strong industry connections in the Inland Empire and LA
  • Impacted majors give local preference if most of your units or your ADT came from a local-area CC; Chaffey and Rio Hondo students get extra consideration
