CSULB transfer eligibility:
- 60 transferable semester units completed
- Minimum 2.0 GPA for the CSU; most CSULB majors require 2.5+ (Cinematic Arts 2.75, Nursing 3.25)
- Golden Four courses completed
- 30 units of GE: Cal-GETC (or CSU GE-Breadth/IGETC if you started before fall 2025)
- Good academic standing
Major Preparation
CSULB is heavily impacted - major prep is critical:
- Local-area applicants who meet a major's minimum GPA and prep are offered admission (except in highly impacted majors, where locals get +0.1 GPA); others are admitted as space allows
- Nursing (BSN) is flagged highly impacted; every major is competitive
- Check ASSIST.org for your CC articulation
- An ADT in your major replaces the major-prep list and adds 0.1 to your GPA for ranking
Cal State Apply
Application through the CSU system:
- Application window: October 1 – November 30
- No personal essays for most programs
- CSULB Supplemental Application: January 4 – February 1, 2027 (if requested)
- Self-reported transcripts initially
ADT Advantage
ADT holders have significant advantages at CSULB:
- Guaranteed priority admission to a CSU campus (not necessarily CSULB)
- At CSULB, an ADT in your major adds 0.1 to your cumulative GPA for ranking
- Complete AA-T or AS-T at your CC
- Path to graduation in 60 additional units in a similar major
